As well as providing mariner education and training, the NMCI participate in European-wide research and development projects. DEIS partnered with the NMCI as technology partner on the Maritime Education Platform project. The aim of the project was to develop a repository of learning resources for educators in the maritime industry. DEIS were contracted to develop three courses for the repository.
Supplied here are screen shots of the AIS module. The module was built in html and flash and was delivered on the projects chosen learning management system.
I was the main point of contact for the NMCI with DEIS. My role involved working closely with the client to tailor a large amount of content for online delivery. I was also responsible for developing the interface and media rich content as well as a style guide for the project. I was also required to travel to a project partners seminar in Rotterdam as technical partner. This was to promote team-building across a geographically diverse partnership and also to assess requirements for future MEP modules based on the requirements of the project partner consortium.
